The Octabuoy Classic is dry-tree completion unit that can accommodate both production facilities and a complete drilling/workover rig. This new concept platform is being built to develop ATP´s challenging Cheviot field in the UK North Sea.
In order to protect the bare steel submerged surfaces of the Octabuoy structure, CWC (Corrosion & Water-Control BV, ICCP manufacturer from the Netherlands) has designed and an ICCP system with the following main hardware components:
- Ti MMO coated anodes with sufficient lifetime;
- multiple high frequency power units each feeding a group of anodes and equipped with a sophisticated software package and touch display controllers;
- reference electrodes with sufficient lifetime.
Thanks to the flexibility of Elsyca technology, the full complexity of the Octabuoy structure can be taken into account for the analysis of the cathodic protection system. The CP performance at different points in time, hence for different thickness values of the calcareous deposit have been analyzed through comparative computer simulations. A paper summarizing the results of this study has been submitted to NACE2010.
